Elemental

After a decade of dreaming and planning, Tom and Deb first enjoyed their new outdoor living space in March 2022. Caribbean Pools installed the unique boot-shaped design as a nod to Tom, a retired Army Colonel. A year and a half before, the homeowners hired Blair Walton and his team at Element Outdoor Living to do a complete makeover of their backyard. (Jessi Lynne Photography)

“It was great to have a single point of contact with John Stewart at Element. He coordinated everything to make our vision come to life.”

A private sunbathing deck is a favorite hang-out for the family dog, Koba.

Tom and Deb selected ivory travertine for the new pathway and pool deck to complement their existing patio.

Travertine stepping-stones nestled in mondo grass make up the new pathway. It’s surrounded by boxwood shrubs and an ever-changing display of colorful flowers.

The cascading waterfall was created by Drew Thorndyke of Cape Fear Water Gardens.

“We love natural stone and water. It evokes childhood memories and a sense of family. We plan on engraving our parents’ names on the waterfall as a memorial so we’re looking for that special rock at Stone Garden.”

Koba suns himself on the travertine deck. Vibrant limelight hydrangeas and lush palm trees make the perfect backdrop.

At night, tiki torches and orb lighting by Outdoor Illumination add a magical glow.

Tom and Deb are grateful to Element Outdoor Living and the team they assembled to bring their vision to life.

“We couldn’t ask for more professional people to work with. Our outdoor space looks so much larger than before. It changes your mindset and immediately transports you to a luxurious tropical resort.”

Thank you to Tom and Deb for sharing their outdoor retreat with us.
